I am so thankful for this day…that I am still alive and kicking after 30 loooonggg years of survival. I am so blessed with a hubby, a family, and friends that are essential to my survival despite all the odds. Last year was not the toughest but I could say one of the best.
To my family and extended family members who sent their greetings, my good old friends who still remember today as my DAY, my online friends, my former colleagues, and everybody who greeted me in one way or another. A big thanks!

Eight years ago, we were in Cebu City. Ace lives in his uncle’s house in Banawa while I live with our preacher’s family in Mabolo. From downtown (where we usually go) we should go on different directions when going home. Since Ace was over protective that time (and I cannot be trusted on going home alone especially if I ride a jeepney), he walks me home in Casal’s Village no matter what time it is in the evening. Travel time from Mabolo to Banawa is around an hour and I cannot just help but worry about Ace going home to his Uncle’s place because he has to pass by a squatter’s area and I don’t think it is really safe. So what Ace does is call me when he’s home and everytime Ate Maricor (the preacher’s wife now our 2nd parent) hands me the phone, she teases me with her remarkable smile saying “checking…”. Heard about Mesothelioma? According to Wiki, it’s a cancer caused by exposure in asbestos. So, asbestos is not really safe but some institutions still use asbestos in the workplace for insulation. How about the workers in an asbestos plant? So they’re all exposed to asbestos and have the high risk of developing mesothelioma. Since most mesothelioma cases are developed from work-related asbestos-exposed environment, patients now have the right to file a case against the company they have worked for. From there Mesothelioma lawyers come in. They are of great help to mesothelioma patients as they protect the rights of their clients in their legal battle against the companies that used are still using asbestos.

It rained with opportunities so I am now blogging ’till I drop. Thanks PU2B! I really hope I could finish everything before the cut-off tomorrow so my pocket will be smiling come payout. Here’s hoping the man in the house will give me a hand in preparing our food so I could concentrate with blogging. But seems I would be doing everything now because his face is now stucked in front of the TV. Hope he will realize that he also needs to lift a finger now.

As much as I don’t want to comment on the controversy between Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili, I can’t help but say what I think about the issue. Katrina gained the sympathy of the public especially women organizations but I can’t find it in my heart to sympathize for her. Sorry, but I don’t feel her agony and she’s not worthy of my sympathy*lol*. If there’s somebody to be blamed about the issue, it’s her because it wouldn’t have happened if she kept herself out of that elicit relationship. On the other hand, I admire Maricar (the other woman involved in the controversy) for keeping her silence. Despite of the big controversy, she struggled to work hard unlike Katrina who kept on blaming the controversy for the lost projects. Who’s to blame then, but herself! Read more… »

For weeks we’ve got problem with Puto. He was scratching his ear as if it is so itchy but when I check it, there’s no flea or whatever that may have caused him discomfort. What pisses us is his loud cry as if he is really hurt or wanted to take off his ear at that instant. I found out that his ear is dirty. Yesterday, he was restless again so I checked on him and the back of his ear is already bleeding due to frequent scratching. I took some cotton buds to clean his ear but we had to fight before he lie down and behave so I could clean his ears. After a while, he won’t let me touch his ear and tried to bite me. He might have been hurt or it was really itchy. Since cleaning Puto’s ear is not 100% successful, I searched online for ways to clean a dog’s ear and found out I just need a pet ear’s cleaners. Will try to search for it from an oline dog supplies store for I am pretty sure it would be hard to get it in pet shops here unless we bring Puto to the pet groomer to have his ears cleaned.

I and Ace joined the Canon Image Nation Photo Safari conducted last Sunday at Gaisano Mall of Davao which was participated in by around 50 Canon users both amateurs and professionals. Actually, I am hesitant to join but Ace is so persistent so I gave in. The photo safari’s theme were only given before the event started and we had around 4 hours to shoot for the 4 different categories. Just imagine walking endlessly at the mall area looking for subjects that could fit in to the category given. Since we only have one camera, we took turns in getting a photo for our own entries. My feet really hurt for endless walking (the result of not having enough exercise) while Ace really enjoyed the activity. Read more… »

When Penchie (one of my HS classmate who’s influenced by my passion in photography) bought her Canon 450D, she got a one year insurance worth 40K for free! Though her cam’s worth is more than that insured amout, it’s still great for when her DSLR will be stolen (God forbid), she could at least receive something to buy another gear*lol*. In our case, our cam is not insured yet and if we upgrade or get other gears, we might as well consider having it insured so it would be helpful to check out for insurance quotes that’s being offered by non-life insurance companies. Who knows, we might need it soon.

Finally, myDSL is now installed and activated. It was actually installed yesterday at lunch time and I used it till this morning. The first few hours, internet speed as fast but after it impressed me for quite a while, it slowed down that uploading photos to flickr is too slow. I also noticed that pages tend to hang from time to time and like Smartbro, I’ve been disconnected more than a couple of times for a second or more. This isn’t really good. All the while I thought wired is better than wireless but it seems I am proven to be wrong. So I checked on speedtest to check the speed and here it is…

Download seemed to be fast while upload speed is too slow.
I unplugged myDSL and connected with SmartBro and here’s the result of the speedtest.

Both SmartBro’s upload and download speed is quite fast so I wouldn’t have problem uploading photos to flickr. In my case, SmartBro is better than PLDT myDSL in terms of speed but I don’t know yet with their services. I just hope myDSL would improve before I finally decide to permanently terminate my subscription with SmartBro.
