What more can be done with Cbox
My curious mind worked again. As I have written in my previous post, I learned the why’s and how’s of blogging by myself…except in FTPing my files as I have learned that from Ace’ older brother. So, I started exploring on the things I have seen in other blogs until I got how to do it. Ace knew I was good at it so he told me to learn how to delete a message in our cbox. It was never a big deal for me until I was pushed to learn how when I told Borski to find out who left the message in their cbox using Carol’s name. I’m not sure if that really is possible but since I made that statement, I will find ways by hook or by crook. My instant help with anything in mind is Mr. Google so I asked him how to trace IP add of messages left in cbox and I was directed here. Yey! It’s really possible and now I have full control over my cbox, so as others. It’s one great find so I was so excited to text Nai about it but they were busy that time so they weren’t able to check by themselves. Days after, we were able to dertermine who used Carol’s name in their cbox.
As we can see, cbox is only a simple message box and I fully understood how it function after reading all the threads. From there, I learned these things:A: Visit the Messages page of your control panel to delete messages individually or in batches. If you are a Premium Cbox user, create a moderator account for yourself on your Users page, and then log in at your Cbox to delete messages without having to visit the control panel at all.
A: The internet is fairly anonymous by its nature, so there’s no easy way to track down a person who posts in your Cbox. Your Cbox records IP addresses though (see your Messages page), which allows you to ban people quite reliably. This tool may help you find a user’s ISP’s contact information, if you need to report abuse to them.A: Your Bans page lets you ban and unban IP addresses. You can also quickly ban people from your Messages page - select one or more messages from to the people you want to ban, and click the Ban link in the top-right.If you have a Premium Cbox, you can create a moderator account for yourself here, and then ban people with one click after logging in at your Cbox.
To unban users, go to your Bans page, select the bans you want to remove and click the “Unban” link.
To ban users whose IP addresses change, select the user on your Bans page and click the “Strengthen” link. You can click it twice for maximum strength. However, note that strong bans may affect other people who are using the same ISP.
From there I learned a lot. But more of this is the lesson I learned from the experience. Do not underestimate others. If you think others may not find out how, there are numerous ways to discover many things that will eventually lead them to know what they are looking for. Technology doesn’t hide anything nowadays. Everything will be tracked down to the user. Better yet, don’t leave your footprints if you don’t wanna be identified or if you’re itching to do it, do it in a cafe….that way, we will really have a hard time tracing the user.
With this, I was reminded that one of the management staff in my previous job almost lost his job by remotely accessing my PC without my permission. Sorry for him ‘coz I was oriented how to check the IP add if someone remotely access my PC. With just one click, there he go! A show cause memo with a the heaviest sanction…termination.
