Camera Critters: Monkey-eating Eagle (Pithegophaga Jeffreyi)
One great day today! After attending the Sunday worship, we (Ace, Che2x, Manang Inday and daughter Dimple) has a sumptuous lunch at Little Kowloon along Roxas Boulevard. After lunch, we headed to the Philippine Eagle Center. Initially, the plan was to take a van or bus going to Calinan and then ride in a tricycle or taxi going to the center but we finally get a cab. After almost an hour, we arrived in the center. Ace was so excited to see Pag-Asa, the first bird hatched in captivity when I was still freshman in high school. To his dismay, viewers cannot get near the Monkey-eating Eagle. He wanted to get a closer look on the bird but what he can only do is take many photos of it. Anyway, after getting tired waiting for Pag-Asa to spread his wings, Ace found same bred bird being shown in public without four walls of their simulated environment. I can’t remember how many minutes Ace waited for this moment and he was so happy when it finally happened. This is one of the endangered Monkey-eating Eagle being found in Mt. Apo (the country’s highest mountain). Will be talking about the eagle in my coming post and I hope I won’t bore you to death.
