A HS friend who is an agriculturist finished his second course in Nursing abroad. Quite weird, right? Ever since Nurses became an in demand profession abroad, people have been taking a second course in Nursing, hoping to easily land a job in greener pasture. But nursing will take years to finish. While others are willing to wait for years, some opted for the shorter course on Nursing Assistant and become a certified nursing assistant in a few years. I wasn’t aware about CNA until such time when I had difficulty finding a registered Nurse for my former company’s clinic. My boss then suggested I’d better hire a Certified Nurse Assistant and in no time, the vacancy was filled up. My nurse aide underwent a cna training in one of the schools in the city. Of course, she paid for the training. If only she got her training from CNABoard, it might have been FREE! Anyway, better luck to others who wanted to become a nurse’ aide.

School year just started at least to some academic institutions in this part of the globe. One blogger chum’s daughter is entering college and getting a nursing degree. Many of our young generation now are going to nursing schools, not to mention that even the professionals are taking a second course in nursing. Well, maybe it’s because of the high possibility of going abroad to work because nurses are in demand in other countries.
With the growing demand of nurses abroad, nursing schools are popping out like mushrooms! Even my alma mater that is known to provide quality graduates in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine and other courses, opened a college of Nursing! That gave me a big shock! Since Nursing students are growing in number, one booming business is sewing and selling medical scrubs and uniforms. Somebody in this business must be making huge money on it. Imagine the huge market of nursing students around the country? It must be a big hit! Selling nurses shoes is also a big hit. If only I know how to sew or I know someone who makes nursing uniforms, I might consider getting into business of supplying nursing schools with scrubs and uniforms for their students. Nice business idea, right?
Ace seemed to be worried that I get bored working from home with the kind of work that is too far from my educational background. Last week he mentioned it again. He was telling me I should continue to hone my skills in HR so I need to find an HR related job. He must have been thinking that my degree is useless if I don’t practice my profession. I actually thought of going back to the industry at one point but the desire suddenly fade that I wanted to stay at home because this is where I belong! If somebody will hire me for a home-based HR job, then I might consider it. Who knows, I might be transferred to HR of DWC after some time. Anyway, that’s just one of Ace’ concern.
Another thing that he wanted me to do is pursue my masters degree. For what? He really thinks that I excel in this field so I must continue learning until I get a post graduate diploma. Good for Ace because he has plans for me when I don’t even care planning for that!LOL. Well, if time and resources would permit, I might get a degree (a second course maybe or pursue my graduate studies) from an online university such as Western Governors Online University. Why Western Governors? Because it is non-profit and affordable than other online universities, and fully accredited of course! If I would go for a second course, maybe an online nursing degree would do if I would have the courage to take health care course (because I am afraid of blood and have phobia of hospitals).
