After I blogged about how I don’t like Ms. Philippines Universe Shamcey Supsup’s style of walking during the Ms. Universe coronation night, I was laughing out loud when Korina Sanchezwas imitating her pose – with upper body overly leaning back and butt pushed out – in TV Patrol World the following day. The TV Patrol anchors even talked about Supsup’s walking style that was called TSUNAMI WALK. They call it Tsunami Walk because her middle body is like huge tsunami waves swaying too much as she walks. Others find it nice. For me, NOT. I wonder if her not-so-classic Tsunami Walk has something to do with her ending as the 3rd runner-up. Maybe yes. Maybe no.

I haven’t watched TV programs as much as I do before we moved. I miss my favorite segment in a noontime show for weeks already. I thought I could watch it after we have moved but the reception is not that clear. It’s a pain to be watching programs that aren’t that clear. Now we will be forced to subscribe to get a cable TV subscription. Love that idea so I could watch my home, food, and lifestyle channels that I have missed watching for more than a year now. Hope the cable provider is now on HD so it would be compatible with our TV. I heard about issues of analog cable between HD TVs before. It’s not an issue with digital receiver, but the cable itself is not compatible with the high definition TV.
Looking forward to watch my fave shows in the coming days!
Is obsessing over designer handbags, shoes and dresses enough to carry a show? The idea might have seemed foolish prior to the iconic success of the HBO series Sex and the City.
The adventures of four friends living in New York proved to be a trendsetting series that has spawned a culture of television shows obsessing over looks, clothes and hook-ups. The show’s appeal to women was obvious. The four main characters were female, and many of their adventures were designed to poke fun at mistakes men often make in relationships.
Male characters frequented the show, but few lasted past a story arc. Other than gay friends that would meet the characters for a happy hour of apple martinis and cosmos, the men served as comedic fodder. The primary love interest for main character Carrie Bradshaw was so one-dimensional that he went by the name Mr. Big and served the function of adding some drama to an otherwise lighthearted show. Would Big be faithful to Carrie? And what was his real name anyway?
The only relationships that really mattered were the friendships between the women and their love of the city – and its shopping options. Marketers credited the series with helping cosmos become popular again. The handbags shown on the show became trendy, and the jewelry that the characters wore on the show became best sellers. Sex and the City acted as a fashion show, for many of the fans tuned in just for the clothes. It did not really matter who Carrie was dating or if a romantic relationship was going sour. The girls would always end up at a New York hot spot to sip on a drink and talk. The show as about style, location and, most importantly, designer brands. The girls loved their accessories, and this relationship was the show.
