It was a friend’s wedding last Saturday. I am so excited for this event because I’ll be seeing some HS classmates and for sure it will turn out to be a mini reunion. We (I and Ace) really prepared for this event as this will be another photo opportunity and another moment to bond with the FCs (First Class 35). Though Ace has slight fever and headache on that day, he is more than excited to attend the wedding.

If I remember it right, it was almost a month before the wedding when Gizelle (the bride) and I had a chat. They were having problem with the venue because the hotel ballroom where they wanted to hold the ceremony and reception cannot accommodate them on the date that they have chosen for their wedding. I suggested Waterfront Insular Hotel but she has second thoughts because she wanted the venue to be just in the heart of the city and Waterfront is around 15-20 minutes drive from downtown. Anyway, her coordinator was able to book the wedding at Waterfront and so here’s the place!

I personally love this. One of my dream wedding set-up!

While everybody is getting ready for the ceremony (and maybe while waiting for the sun to hide in the clouds which didn’t happen), Ace spotted Gizelle and her groom at the hotel lobby so he grab the opportunity to take portraits of the couple.

Big day

Last Saturday we attended a grand wedding of a friend held at the gazebo of Waterfront Insular Hotel. It was grand and elegant, at least for me, and I am happy to see a friend having her dream wedding. A week before the wedding, I was able to talk to the couple about their expenses and I wasn’t surprised to know how much they have cashed out for their big day. Judging from the venue, it was really that expensive so it was not a surprise if they have to spend more than twice of our expenses more than two years ago. Other details of the wedding elegant and of course, pricey so that also explains why the said wedding is really expensive!

Is that how expensive to tie the knot these days? Oh well, it’s one in a lifetime moment so couple are so willing to spend that much for a one day affair. The fact of life is, there are two events that people spend so much on…the wedding and funeral. If people are willing to spend hundreds of thousands for a grand wedding, there are also those who are willing to spend much more than that for funeral costs especially those who have more than what they have.

Anyway, photos from the wedding coming up next. I am still in the process of uploading it to flickr®. Stay tuned!

Ms. Universe 1994

I miss my HS Days a lot! Time for crushes, puppy love, fling, mutual understandings, food trips, house crashing, group study, swimming at the nearest swimming pool, road trip to the nearby town to eat “buko”, etc…etc. It’s also the stage where most are dealing with skin problems such as blackheads or worst, pimples or acne aside from the heartbreak caused by our crushes.

It is during HS when our camera whoring days (and until now) started. This is one of the hundreds (or thousands perhaps) of photos we have during our HS days taken during one of our swimming trips in 1994 when Ms. Universe is the craze (because the pageant was held in the country) thus our pose says so. Feeling contestants! How I wish we could go swimming as often as we can now.

Gown or dress?

Exactly 2 weeks to go and it will be my friend’s wedding to be held in Waterfront Insular Hotel. One friend sent text message relaying a message from the bride-to-be that we SHOULD be in FORMAL attire. Formal? I wonder what is the standard for formal. Does that mean gown for the ladies and barong or tux for the gents? Or we could come in dress, and polo and slacks for the gents? Have to clear this out because I don’t wanna go there over dressed nor under dressed.

So it’s two weeks to go and my abdominal flabs are still in place. How could I make it disappear in two weeks? A weight loss surgery might be the right answer but I am not that desperate to go on surgery just to get rid of my fats. I’d rather find a dress (assuming that the ladies could come in dress) that could hide the bulges…I hope there’s one that is very affordable. But I am not yet closing the doors for my dream Loalde dress. Sheriff, give me more opps please so I could buy a dress from Loalde. Thanks in advance!

What’s the name again?

Yesterday I received a text message from a college classmate that she just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy early morning. Yay! To my excitement, I composed a reply congratulating her and her hubby but I forgot her husband’s name for it was only during the wedding when I first met him. I don’t wanna send my message saying “congrats to you and your hubby” as I wanted to mention the name so the first thing that came to mind is check out their wedding invitation. But since the box where I am keeping the wedding invitations that we received over the years was were kept under Che2x’s bed (and I am just lazy to pull it out), I sat in front of the computer and think where I could get my friend’s husband name. Not long after, I realized we have photos of the wedding so I scanned over the photos in flickr and got the name after a few minutes. So there, my message was sent with the hubby’s name in it. Next time I should include husband’s name in my phonebook as I am too quick to forget.

Manila Getaway: Day 2 Part 2

It took days before my post about Day 1 of our Manila getaway was followed with Day 2. But since Day 2 is full of activities and photos, I had to split it into two and posted Day 2 Part 1 days ago. Now I finally decided to post the part 2 of day 2 and finish this chronicle of our trip before the year ends.

After Tiendesita’s, we went to Regalla Towers to visit Ace’ Dad. We stayed there for a while waiting for Ace’ childhood close friend (schoolmate and classmate until HS) and neighbor Kikit (Ace’ best man during our wedding) who fetched us with his “girlfriend” – his months-old brand new car! Kikit drove us to SM Mall of Asia. It was such a long drive (not to mention the traffic) from north to south.

Sour fix

Yay I’m drooling! I just had green mango, original glazed Krispy Kreme doughnut and a glass of Sprite for merienda but seems I am not satisfied with my sour fix as I was drooling over the photo of the green mango we ate at Dencio’s last week with my HS classmates. I remember we were big eaters of green mangoes dipped in fish paste or shrimp paste during our HS years. We were once told that eating sour like green mango won’t make you fat (of course because it doesn’t contain sugar and carbo)…so it’s working like a fat burner? Then I should be eating more green mangoes now to lessen the probability that I gain more weight. Let’s see if it’s effective. Or we are just slim during our HS years because we have active lifestyles.

Last year I bought holiday cards to be sent out to close friends but I wasn’t able to mail it. Such a great procastinator! This year, I already set my mind to mail those cards so it could serve its purpose. I actually need more than a couple of cards because we gained some friends over the year and they are such a blessing to us so I can’t think of a better yet cheaper way of thanking them for sharing their lives to us but to send our holiday greetings to them. :-)

Birdal Invitations

Bridal Invitations

What I missed doing before my wedding is giving out Bridal Shower Invitations. Why? Simply because I didn’t have a bridal shower! Thus, when I received a bridal shower invitation from a highschool friend months ago, I was so thrilled! It’s my first time to be invited in a shower party but I wasn’t able to attend for we are miles apart.

Anyway, another friend is about to tie the knot early next year and she’s now preparing her shower invitations and other details but I have no idea if she has included in her list the rehearsal dinner invitations that she’s giving out to the entourage. I must tell her then that I found unique and exclusive designs available ONLY at Announcements-Shoppe since she’s still looking for a bridal invitation that will suit her preference. She wanted something unique with a personal touch hence getting the bridal invitations from http://www.announcements-shoppe.com will make everything easy for her because they will modify any card design or color as requested. That will be great relief to her and I am sure she will love it!

One of my HS classmate posted our scanned photos during high school in FB and it was really a blast from the past. We were all laughing seeing most of us so skinny with out of fashion get-ups.LOL. During our time, it was the fad but now, it’s “kabukian”.

Anyway, below is our class picture for our yearbook taken in 1996 (ok, get the calculator and calculate how old we are now!hahaha). See those skinny peeps? Only few are healthy babies during our HS years.

And here’s a photo taken last month during one of our classmate’s visit. You can easily tell the big difference. We didn’t look old, but we become bigger (horizontally!) and we’re not Mommies and Daddies yet (except for Doc Shella @ the right). Perhaps if we’ll all be having children, we will gain more weight.

Now everybody is claiming “I gained weight!” and we also ask the same old question “how to burn fat?” for we noticed it is so easy to gain but it is too hard to lose weight unless we go into strict diet and rigorous exercise. Well, for those who need to lose weight for some reason, good luck!
