We were at the neighbor’s place the other night. Their househelp is grilling at the griddle when we arrived. After a while, something’s beeping. I thought it’s their oven. The sound kept going on for a few more minutes until I realized it’s the smoke alarm in their kitchen that is making the sound. So they already installed smoke alarms and the next thing would be home security cameras because their place is thieves’ favorite. For us, the 5 dogs are enough to guard our home and they’ve been efficient in doing so but maybe we also need a door alarm in the future.

Every year (since Ace was employed with his current employer), Ace buys something for the house from his bonus. During the first year, he got a 22” Samsung LCD HDTV, the following year he bought our Benette sofa set from Mandaue Foam. This year, Ace is not sure if they will be given a bonus because the company’s revenue was affected with the issue of ForEx ban of UN to Iraq. A huge percentage of their market is in Iraq so revenue suddenly dropped when they were not able to ship Bananas to Iraq. But then we are positive that management will still give out bonuses to employees though not as big as the previous years.

So anyway, I told Ace to continue what he started two years ago SHOULD they will be given a bonus – to buy something for the house that will last for years. We are planning to get a dining set. We need a rectangle one to save space because our house is too small for the current round table and bulky dining chairs that we are using. if we will have a dining set, then our next project will be a bed. I was looking at a website carrying different kinds of beds that includes cabin beds, log beds and others but I wanted a platform bed that has drawers underneath so it could also serve as storage. Since there’s no word yet about the bonus from Ace’ employer, then we’ll just wait and see what their President will announce during their Christmas Party on the 8th. Hope it’ll be good news to all!
