Give Christmas Photo Cards this holiday season

Holiday season just started and we are starting to shop for our presents to the family, relatives, and friends. But with the status of the economy, I bet it is not the right to splurge so much on shopping. As for me, I always wanted to give out personalized items if I have the time to do it. Last year, I gave my close friends in the workplace a personalized hand-painted mug that my sister Carol made. Since she’s in the province and pregnant at that, I don’t think she can still make her personalized gift items for Christmas. Continue Reading »

110th Philippine Independence Day

Today, we are commemorating the 110th day of Philippine Independence. Local government units initiated the usual flag raising ceremony in their respective localities. The academe and the private sectors have their own way of celebrating this special day. This day should be a non-working day but the president GMA issued a presidential decree declaring Monday (June 9) as a Regula Non-working holiday in lieu of Thusday (June 12) as the National Independence Day. Personally I am not amenable with the idea of moving the non-working holidays that fall in between Tuesday and Thursday to either Monday or Friday to make way for a long weekend. I felt the essence of the day is being forfieted as the tradition is put to a halt and the supposed to be special and historic day became a regular day. But in a way, it is beneficial too for a longer family bonding.

When I was still in school, we celebrate Independence Day by attending traditional flag raising ceremony at the Municipal Hall and offering flowers to at the foot of the monument of our national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal. Haven’t attended such ceremony for so long so I asked Ace last night if we can attend the flag raising ceremony at the city hall at 7AM so we need to wake up by 5AM. Ace seemed too tired to get up too early so I just get back to sleep. Thus, I end up watching the news of the flag raising ceremony in Luneta.

Happy Independence Day to all! Long live Philippines!
