Government (to) poor the people and buy the people
Last Thursday, Ace texted to open the TV so that I could watch SONA (State of the Nation Address) of the president. When I turned on the TV, I learned that SONA will be on Monday. Actually I am not interested with the SONA because I am sick and tired of Gloria Arroyo’s style of politics, such a traditional politician who by any means will do everything and obviously used her power to retain her in position. If only I could go out on the street and join rallies against her, I will really do.
For sure, she will lift herself up and highlight her so-called accomplishments to convince the public that she really did her job. For more than 8 years of being the president, I have seen a lot of changes in the country and the status of living of many Filipinos. The RICH became RICHER and the POOR became POORER. Now I was reminded of the platform of government I usually heard during the campain periods which says GOVERNMENT FOR THE PEOPLE AND BY THE PEOPLE. But with the present administration, it clearly means GOVERNMENT (to) POOR THE PEOPLE AND BUY THE PEOPLE. Though that’s a joke to many, yet it is true. The government’s expertise is buying the loyalty and sympathy of the people thru giving tangible things such us little groceries for the poor, etc. Economic sustainability is not attained because people aren’t provided with tools that will equip them to find their own living. What the government is doing is giving fish to the people, not teaching them how to fish.
Clearly, I am not pro-administration and I have so many negative things to say about the government especially the president but I am cutting this short because no matter how people will talk about the administration, she will still remain in her seat as long as she wants at the expense of stepping on the rights of people to keep her in position.
Anyway, here’s a photo I took yesterday. I really wanted to take photo of street people but I have no guts to do it. Here, these two siblings are natives. I don’t know where they live but they were at the beach yesterday. The little boy seemed to be sick because of big tummy. He went to different cottages to ask for food and whatever he’ll have, he shares it to the older brother. Such a depressing sight. There are more people begging for food be it in the city or in the province and I am wondering how the government will address that concern. Instead of putting the people’s money to their pockets, why can’t they give it back to the people so that they could have something to start with to make a decent living?
