Weeks ago, I blogged about Ace being considered for a position he applied for. Before he received the contract for his signature, my manager asked if he is interested for a position in our department. Since Ace is not available to take the job anymore, I asked my manager if I can recommend my sister. Fortunately, sister got in after a few weeks of waiting for the assessment interview. Since the department is looking for a few more people to join the team, BIL also submitted his application. Now we’re waiting for the good news from my department manager.
Work-wise, this is a good year for us – with Ace and sister having fulltime work and hopefully BIL will also get the job. Travel-wise, our time won’t be that flexible as before where we can hit the road anytime we want to (as long as I can connect to the internet to work at night) so we won’t be having frequent road trips as before. Maybe we can go on short trips then spend the rest of the day and night working. That would need a reliable mobile internet connection and laptop for each of us. We would need three more laptops or netbooks (assuming that BIL will get a job soon) when we travel especially that we are planning to visit our youngest sister and her family in CDO very soon to see the newest member of the family – baby Sendong. Hopefully we can find the best deal on either acer or toshiba netbooks as their mobile work buddies (I don’t need one because my laptop is still working). Found one online and I am crossing my finger that HE will provide means for us to get those mobile work buddies that we need.
Thanks to HIM for starting our 2012 with a blast!

Got a call last Thursday telling me that MacPlas’ (the company I worked for before URC) will be having their Christmas Party the next day and they are getting us (me and Ace) to be their official photographers. What a super short notice! After being their official photographers during their Family Day last May, they are hiring us again. Since MacPlas is like a family to me and Ace, I couldn’t just say no. So even if I don’t know how much they are paying us, I said YES to the invitation.
Macondray Plastics is a great place to work with because the management, most especially the CEO and President is always thinking of the manpower as their top priority among others. I saw how people were taken cared of, how the management thought of ways to make sure the people are happy even providing the best material handling machines and equipments so they may be productive with their work, how the management thought of employee relations activities to strengthen the bond between the management and employees, how the company is taking care of their clients and their stake holders.
I do hope this certain connection between me and Ace and the people of my first corporate family will continue to grow…and someday, we will become business partners as we offer our services to them.
Note: photos to follow. I am too busy to resize some of the photos now.

I love it that I can now work with the iPad. That means, I can now go online without bringing my laptop in our trips! Yay! That’s a relief. The usual scenario when we’re travelling – Me with my handbag, tripod, and a weekend bag while Ace with the laptop bag, camera bag, and his backpack. So now we can go away with the laptop that’s heavy for me and not worry about work because I can go online with my iPad. Thanks to brilliant minds for inventing the internet, wifi, and tablet PCs!
It’s supposed to be holiday but I am talking about work. Sad to say, we follow the US calendar so I NEED to work even if it’s declared a non-working holiday in this part of the globe. The consolation is, I don’t need to be sitting in front of the computer for 8 straight hours. Hence, we can travel to Kabacan later! I’ll just check work emails along the way, or if the boss needs something to be faxed to her, I can send through email fax services later. With Metrofax (that allows people to send and receive fax through email), we can definitely work remotely! Metrofax sends and delivers fax in a pdf format so I or the boss can easily print it whenever needed. Love the idea! So convenient for us – especially me who’s always out for a quick trip and others who are always on a business trips. This email fax service is definitely a huge help!
