Best Photographer and Best Picture Awards
Posted on Aug 07, 2008 under Hobby, Photography | 1 CommentThe other day was our last session in Basic Photography Workshop. As required, we submitted 2 photos that we took during the shoot printed in 8×10. That kept me busy last Monday afternoon having it printed in the photo lab. I had 4 printouts and had a hard time deciding which photos I should submit for judging. Anyway, I mounted each on in 1/8 illustration board and brought it to the workshop venue and asked my classmates to choose. We have the same taste though, my picks are also their picks. Hence, I did not included Ace’ pick which is the letter M. I submitted the letters E and Y. Our entries were all posted in the wall for judging and I am a bit nervous. Will my entries pass the judges’ keen eyes in looking at photographs?
The judges had to say what are their picks and said their comments on each photo. Luckily, my entries are the top picks. Yey! Hence, I received the BEST PHOTOGRAPHER award. Actually, we’re only 5 but it’s quite an honor to be chosen as one. Considering that among the group, I am the last to have a DSLR. My classmates have their DSLR as early as last year and they should be better than me in taking photographs. Anyway, here’s my entries for judging:

This photo won the BEST PICTURE Award

2nd placer for the BEST PICTURE Award
It’s flattering to receive the BEST PHOTOGRAPHER award from among our class and I am happy that my effort have paid off which made me wanting to shoot more and practice what I have learned in the workshop. Sir Eugene Lara, our instructor said I have the EYE and I only need to develop it. That motivated me to learn more and develop that inherent talent…which means, more workshops to enroll and lots of reading and practice. This hobby brought me to another level and I am so happy I’m into it. Just don’t think about the expenses.LOL. The appreciation I receive from others regarding my photos is more than enough to keep me going.
Aside from gaining knowledge from this hobby, I also gained friends. My classmates are even motivated to shoot more and was looking forward for another shoot (though we already graduated from the workshop). Sir Eugene said he will invite us in the photo shoot of the next batch of the workshop but seems we cannot wait for another month before we can shoot again. Hence, we will schedule our next photoshoot a week or two from now. Sir Eugene suggested People’s Park as the venue with the theme “Children” because there’s a lot of kids playing in that park. Talking about kids, I was reminded I should be looking for a life insurance for kids. Haven’t heard of it before and I hope the insurance companies here have that. If there’s any, should I buy another Kingkang and start saving for it? Oh, I am not preggy yet, I was just thinking about it.LOL.
P.S. Will be posting the certificates once I get it scanned or once I have taken photos of it.
