The house we moved in has no furnishings and we don’t have our own cabinets where to put away our things. For weeks I’ve been searching for a buffet table cum cabinet but found none at the furniture stores. I already convinced myself to just wait until we can move to our own house before so I can have all the furnishings that I wanted to install. But during Ella’s birthday last week, I am so happy to see a churchmate who made our wardrobe cabinet years ago. That cabinet is what we’re using now for our clothes but just too small for both mine and Ace’. Anyway, I was able to mention to him that I need his skills to make us a buffet table or just kitchen cabinet. A week after, he was was here to take measurement of the cabinet. I wanted a buffet table that will also serve as a divider between the living and dining area. But when Ace got home, we changed plan. Instead of the buffet table, we will ask our friend to make us a tall cabinet that we will put beside the sink since we cannot just have kitchen cabinets installed above the sink because it might not fit in our own home. With the tall yet narrow cabinet, we can fit it anywhere should we move to our own house.

Before our friend returned to get the money for the materials the next day, I went over some home improvement sites and checked for space saver contemporary furniture for the kitchen. For small spaces, home improvement gurus suggest one should go vertical or extend to the top so the tall cabinet is just right for us here. Ace have have petty concerns like I how can I reach the top shelves. Oh dear, there are chairs I can climb up to just to reach the top shelves. Besides, only those things that we seldom use should be placed at the top shelves and the frequently used will be placed within reach. That stopped him from worrying if I could reach the top or not. After three days, the cabinet is done. It might have been finished in two days but we paid our friend three days worth of work. Besides, his labor charge is cheaper than other carpenters.
