PLDT myDSL vs. SmartBro

Finally, myDSL is now installed and activated. It was actually installed yesterday at lunch time and I used it till this morning. The first few hours, internet speed as fast but after it impressed me for quite a while, it slowed down that uploading photos to flickr is too slow. I also noticed that pages tend to hang from time to time and like Smartbro, I’ve been disconnected more than a couple of times for a second or more. This isn’t really good. All the while I thought wired is better than wireless but it seems I am proven to be wrong. So I checked on speedtest to check the speed and here it is…

Download seemed to be fast while upload speed is too slow.

I unplugged myDSL and connected with SmartBro and here’s the result of the speedtest.

Both SmartBro’s upload and download speed is quite fast so I wouldn’t have problem uploading photos to flickr. In my case, SmartBro is better than PLDT myDSL in terms of speed but I don’t know yet with their services. I just hope myDSL would improve before I finally decide to permanently terminate my subscription with SmartBro.

I miss the internet service I had when we lived in Portland (which is a much bigger city than Molalla) … Comcast was soooo fast. I have mediocre speed here, but I also have no other choice, since I live out in the boonies. *lol*

it’s good you have options, far better than having only one service provider in your area. at least may pagpipilian ka.

thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts about the plagiarized content on my blog. I really appreciate it. have a great week ahead!

I have experiences with both parties. So far I am very comfortable with SmartBro kasi lesser ang downtime nila considering I am always online 24/7. Sa PLDT kasi, once they are down, sometimes abot sya days. So not good for our business. :D

Take a good look at the area, DSL have 100 mi while Smartbro got 50 mi. therefore i will go for DSL. My friend who had smartbro keeps complaining me about how slow their internet. Conclusion Pldt Mydsl > Smartbro

For me I will go with PLDT myDSL due to its consistent connection of bandwidth. Smartbro service is awfully bad when it comes to consistency about the bandwidth(This also the speed of download/upload) and I think this is the service we are paying for to the internet provider. Smartbro offer 328Kbps for a P1000/mo and actually no one will hit this margin during downloading or uploading. Why? The more people in your barangay get Smartbro the more traffic it will congest in one Base Station near your houses (Base Station or Cell Site tower you see is the one your canopy antenna is facing on). I already encountered this in one of the Technician who install Smartbro in my cousins house, my cousin complain kasi unang kabit pa lang mabagal na, and what the Tech say to us “puno na kasi yung tintutukan ng canopy antenna na Base Station eh” and the remedy is “kailangan taasan ng Smart yung capacity nung Base station” for what I know this will take time for a year to happen. By that time the capacity has been increase there will more twice subscriber will be in that area. And I hope also if Smartbro company already know that their Base Stations is already full of subscriber they should stop installing canopies and accepting new subscriber. That in the end consumers who accept their contract will suffer for a year of slow internet connections.
