Eating habits

I joined a new meme started by Mommy Arlene she called FOOD QUOTE – a food photo with a quote about food and here’s my first entry posted in my food blog.

As a child my family’s menu consisted of two choices: take it or leave it.

I noticed children these days are spoiled picky eaters. My former Mommy officemates would rant about cooking different viands for a meal because their children are not eating what the adults are eating. Mommies are having a hard time thinking on what to prepare because their kids are too picky. I remember telling them “What’s in the table should be eaten by the kids. No special treatment, no special dish for them” (unless of course if there is something in the dish that’s not good for kids).  That’s how we were trained when we were kids. Picking foods that we only like is not acceptable especially to Daddy. I remember crying over meals because I don’t want the food but I don’t have a choice. I need to finish whatever there is in my plate be it a pure veggie dish, a fish or a meaty dish. But we were seldom served with meat dishes before so we’re used to eat green leafy veggies and fish. I am thankful for that eating habit that I learned as a kid because I can eat with the poorest of the poor and richest of the rich. You could rarely hear me say “I am not eating this and that” (unless it is really an exotic food).LOL.

So how are your eating habits? Do you just eat whatever there is in the table or demand for something else? When visiting others, will you be a host’s fave because you can eat almost anything or a host’s nightmare because you are too picky?
