As an immediate response to the sea mishap that happened last Friday night (August 16), Globe Telecom has set up “tawag centers” in Cebu to help the victims of the sunken M/V St. Thomas Aquinas, 1 of 2Go Shipping Lines. The “libreng tawag” centers aim to assist the rescued passengers to be able to communicate with their loved ones and friends to keep the latter informed of their current situation, seek assistance, and reassurance after the traumatic incident.
The Globe Libreng Tawag Centers are set-up at Pier 4 Terminal in Port Area and in Sugbutel (one of the hostels in the City) where some of the survivors were housed. This free service is very helpful since the rescued passengers have lost their phones and other personal stuff during the accident. Survivors who are still in Cebu waiting for the result of the retrieval operations, along with their families, relatives or friends who are giving assistance to them can avail of free text, local and international calls. This free service from Globe will continue until such time that the situation stabilizes.
