Sunset at Vanishing Island, IGACOS

Our last stop during last week’s island hopping is at Vanishing Island, one of the many small islands surrounding the Island Garden City of Samal or commonly known as IGACOS. This island is within the territory of Davao del Norte though it is most accessible thru Davao City. We were only given 30 minutes to swim so we didn’t take the camera with us as we step down from the boat for us to really enjoy swimming. After a while, Ace and I noticed that a great sunset was about to happen so we hurriedly walk (because I can’t swim that far) back to the boat, took the camera out of the bag and took this shot. Too bad I can’t compose it well because this is the best angle I could get from the boat. Continue Reading »

I’m eating again!

It’s Wednesday again. Time flies so fast. Ace was off to work so I start my own thing in here. Yesterday, Ace was on half-day leave so he could transact business at Social Security System (SSS) and Home Mutual Development Fund (HDMF). I tag along - for a change. I seldom go out during weekdays so it’s a chance for me to see the busy streets of the city. We arrived at SSS building at exactly 3PM. The guard instructed him to get a priority number and so he lined up at information counter. After more than 10 minutes of waiting, he was given #229. While waiting for Ace to get his priority number, I joined the people sitting on the benches in front of six counters but only one is serving the clients. All other counters are closed. The employees must be taking their afternoon snack by then but hey, only one left to serve their customers? More or less 60 people are waiting to be entertained that time. I shouldn’t be shocked because SSS people, like all other government offices, are very lax — not even customer service oriented. Continue Reading »

WS: Red Ribbon’s Bangus ala Pobre

I have blogged about my loss of appetite for no particular reason for more than 2 weeks already. Last Saturday, we had dinner at our favorite dimsum restaurant, Little Ding How but I only ate the stuffed shrimp. I only had 2 spoonfuls of the steamed fried rice and my tummy says I don’t want it anymore. Just the stuffed shrimp because it doesn’t have pork in it. Yesterday, I was really happy that I was able to swallow the pork lechon (roasted pig) and fish kilawen (fresh fish seasoned with vinegar and lemon juice with onion and ginger) but the rice? I think it’s only about 3 spoonful. I really hate this thing as I need to eat a lot but I can’t. I can feel I am hungry but I cannot swallow the food. So last night, Ace treated us (me, Che2x and my niece Mgel) to a dinner at SM. I’ve no particular craving that time so I had a hard time choosing where to eat until I decided we’ll try the rice meals of Red Ribbon. Mine and Ace’ first dine at Red Ribbon was in SM City Cebu during my birthday 7 years ago. We had spaghetti and black forest cake then. We have actually tasted different pastries of Red Ribbon since then but never tried their rice meals. So, why not try it? I might be able to swallow their food. Continue Reading »

Weight gain or loss?

It was nice to have bonding time with a former colleague yesterday. Ate Divine’s hubby is Ace’ officemate and they joined the island hopping. Both our husbands have their own thing so we spent almost the whole travel time gabbing. Like other officemates who saw me months after my resignation, Ate Divine noticed I have gained weight. “I actually lost some lbs” was my reply to that compliment. Yes, I lose weight after 2 weeks of not eating so much because of loss of appetite. On the contrary, Ate Divine wanted to lose weight but her figure remains the same though she wasn’t eating that much. Continue Reading »
