Plastic recycling

I have worked in a plastic manufacturing plant for more than 2 years. Though I am not directly connected with the operations, I do have some knowledge on the different kinds of plastic products especially for packaging, industrial and agricultural lines. The ones used for food packaging is the HDPE or the High Density Polyethylene. In contrast to what others are saying that plastics are not safe as food container, it’s not true for HDPE especially with the ones manufactured by Macondray Plastics, Inc. for they are guaranteed food grade. The raw materials used are 100% virgin materials. However, the problem with plastic manufacturing is it’s waste….not the industrial waste but the underspecs products that didn’t pass quality standards. Though there are buyers for this, there are still others that needs to be recycled. With the advancement of technology, the company was able to bought a pelletizer, the machine that converts the finished product back to pellets. But only unused finished products are being fed to the pelletizer.

The company’s concern now is the recycling of Scrap HDPE. Good thing there is now a company engaged in HDPE scrap distribution and sourcing who’s into consultancy also. Wow, recycling plastic wastes is not a problem anymore and recycling it could also lessen the pollution plastic products brings.
