Yey! We’re going H-O-M-E to Kabacan today. Our cousin and hubby are on their way for a transaction at a printing press and they drove Mamang Ising and Papang Alfred’s Isuzu hilander so we could all fit in the car. Ace have to go to work today so he could not go with us. His superiors will still decide whether they will report for work tomorrow or not. Tomorrow should be a Special Non-Working Holiday as we celebrate All Saints Day but Ace’ superiors aren’t sure if they can declare NO WORK in their department. I am crossing my fingers now that they will declare no work tomorrow so he could go and visit Mamang’s grave. Continue Reading »

It’s been a week since Ella was here. Our electric fan was broken the other month and Ace wanted to buy a replacement but I declined. We don’t need it though it’s been humid here in daytime. Nights are cold in this side of the city so we don’t need fan during our sleep. During daytime, I opened the windows and doors as much as I could so fresh air can blow in. On the other hand, Ella cannot live nor sleep without fan so we used the exhaust fan’s opposite side to blow air directly to her. Funny, really. That’s one of our talents, maximizing the use of a thing….even going beyond. Continue Reading »

During my childhood, I used to draw a house….with pathway and garden. It looks like our house back then. That’s my dreamhouse as a child. Now, if I will draw my dream house again, it would be more detailed. Of course I have the idea now what makes a cozy atmosphere in a house. But still the garden will be there and this time, a patio leading to the former. One permanent thing in my dream house, one of my comfort zones, the garden. Sounds weird but I really talk to the plants in our garden before and that is one thing that I missed a lot so everytime we visit mother’s grave, I talk to the plants that surrounds her. Just browsed through my favorite home magazine earlier this morning and I found this helpful for me….and may also be helpful to you. The items mentioned are only some of the laundry room things we usually use. Other than its normal function, we can also use the items such as bleach bottle, wire hanger, laundry basket, and clothespins for other things.
Bleach Bottle

Pick up a scoop. Cut diagonally across the middle of an empty, clean bottle and use the half with the handle to scoop up fertilizer, rock salt, or pet waste.
See your garden grow. Slice the bottom off an empty, clean jug to make a miniature greenhouse for seedlings. (Place the bottle open-side down over the plants.)
Start a home gym. Fill two empty bottles with sand and use as dumbbells.
Keep them afloat. Tie empty bottles together to use as buoys or to mark the deep part of a swimming area.
Speak up. Cut off the bottle’s base to make a megaphone for refereeing pickup soccer games in the park.
