It’s The End Of The World For Prank Callers And Scammers
Posted on Aug 15, 2008 under Life's Lessons, Technology and Gadgets | 5 CommentsBeen receiving unsolicited phone calls and was pissed because you cannot identify who the caller is? With the use of mobile phones, one can possibly receive a call from prank callers and even scammers. People have the guts to use this communication device to make unsolicited calls or worst, scam others. With Tracenumber.com, one can trace any number – be it mobile or landline number - to find out the name and address of that unknown caller or the calls from unknown numbers that one missed. Hence, its the end of the world now for the prank callers because their identity will be revealed to the one they have called. This one great service and beneficial to everybody for personal or business use.
With this, I was reminded by one instance in my previous job. I am connected to one of the biggest conglomerate in the country. Hence, we almost don’t know everybody except for the top executives. I received a phone call one noon identifying himself as the Vice President asking who is the cashier in our plant. I told him we don’t have a cashier because all payments from the customers are directly deposited to the bank. Then he instructed me to tell the plant manager to call him ASAP. It’s lunch time so the plant manager was not around. Thinking that the caller is really the Vice President, I immediately called the Plant Manager in his mobile telling him to call the VP ASAP. The “VP” called again after a few minutes so I gave the phone to the credit and collection in-charge and she was shocked that the caller knew her fullname. Hence she thought it was really the VP and he was looking at the directory of all employees around the country. The CCD in-charge was intructed to deposit $1,025 in the bank account given to her because the VP needs the money immediately and he has clearance from the Gen. Manager of the Division to get money from our plant’s bank account. Further instructions was given to her. After a while, the Plant Manager arrived and he called the Gen. Manager to verify about the amount the VP is asking to transfer in a certain account. GM was shocked and called the VP asking if he really called our plant. The VP is in a strategic planning workshop at that instant, and not in a meeting with some executives as what the caller told us. Then we realized it’s a prank caller….not only prank but also a scammer. We have the mobile number he gave us but we don’t have ways to identify who he is because it’s a prepaid number. Later that day, we learned that the caller have called 4 provincial plants with the same motive. Morale of the incident….don’t easily trust. Be skeptical.
Glad that Tracenumber.com have thought of this service of tracing unknown numbers while the caller is unaware that his/her identity is now revealed. If scammers will know about this, this will be scared to death.
