I am a person who loathes being closely watched when working. In short, I don’t really want close supervision from my superiors. That made me more happy when during my previous employment I don’t work closely with my functional superior. All my colleagues in the department are based in the capital while I work on my own here. Emails and telephone calls are our means of communication then. It would have been good if we tried Audio conferencing but the boss doesn’t see the need for it so I go to the main office once in a while to meet as a department. That worked good for me who prefers independence and minimum supervision at work and I feel I am more productive with that set-up and my problem-solving skills honed.
After a year of quitting my day job, I was asked to join a virtual company where employees are from different parts of the globe. We have colleagues in the US, in Argentina, in Malaysia, and in different areas here in the Philippines. Since it is a virtual company, meetings and trainings are done via Web conferencing. We haven’t done video conference though this might happen when the CEO and COO will gather us all for an important meeting. Not only us – the employees – are benefiting of the web and video conferencing because sales and technical support group of the company are taking advantage of this technology to reach our clients located in different states in the US. It’s one great advantage to be utilizing these technologies in business because it is more convenient for everybody. Thanks to The Conference Group for making virtual meetings and Video conference possible.
